Words can not describe this moment when I was able to gaze upon her face for the first time.
We had a very relaxing day together, spending it alone with each other and talking about our little girl.
Then Sheila brought her up into my arms. Little baby girl Sable was with us at 2:40am.
Hypnobirthing meditations and affirmations were extremely helpful to me

Here Leslie's thoughts about Sheila Simms Watson "The Miami Midwife": My home birth was everything I had planned for and envisioned. I’m so glad we didn’t have to drive anywhere. I was worried about a breech birth and I was paranoid about a c-section at a hospital. Hypnobirthing meditations and affirmations were extremely helpful to me again and really allowed me to manage the process. Most of all, it was Sheila who helped us turn our dreams into reality for a gentle and relaxed home birth.
On Monday early morning, contractions picked up to about once every 15-20 minutes. We asked our friend to come pick up our 3 year-old son, Colby. In the meantime, contractions slowed back down to once every 30 minutes or so. In the early afternoon, Rob and I went for a walk around our neighborhood. Contractions increased to every 7 minutes or so. Back at home, I had another nap. We had a very relaxing day together, spending it alone with each other and talking about our little girl. In the early evening, a friend came over and he and Rob played their guitars and sang a few songs for me. Contractions went back to every 15-20 minutes. After our friend left, Rob and I took another walk around the neighborhood around 7pm. Back at the house, part of my mucus plug came out when I went to the bathroom. Once in bed, my contractions increased to every 9 minutes and then to every 6-7 minutes. Rob was in contact with Sheila and we kept waiting for the 5-1-1 (5 minutes between contractions for 1 minute in duration for at least an hour). Then, my contractions went back to every 9 minutes and I began to get discouraged. Though I was able to manage the pain with hypnobirthing meditation and breathing, it was more of a struggle than I had remembered with Colby’s labor. I listened to music in bed (Hemisync Dreamseed), with candles lit and the lights low. I remember thinking that I wouldn’t be able to go through a full night of the strong contractions every 9 minutes and not progressing more than I was.
Rob was on the phone with Sheila around 10pm when I went to the bathroom and passed the rest of the mucus plug. Rob put the birth tub in our living room and got it aired up during this time. It didn’t take long, but it was sure noisy. I’m very glad we didn’t wait much longer to do this step, as it would have really distressed/distracted me later on.
